30 Day Song Challenge, Day 14: A song that nobody would expect you to love. Probably “Paper Gangsta” by Lady Gaga. I totally blame Tony Schera for this.

30 Day Song Challenge, Day 13: A song that is a guilty pleasure. “Relator” by Pete Yorn and Scarlett Johansson. I think that Pete Yorn is pretty much the worst person ever and Scarlett Johansson’s first album was hugely awful, but I really, really love this entire album. I’m always in the mood for it (except when I’m at the gym, which isn’t often, so “always” is a pretty fair classification) and I love it even more when I realize that I’ve forgotten about it and listen to it again.

30 Day Song Challenge, Day 12: A song from a band you hate. “That Was A Crazy Game of Poker” by OAR. I hate OAR.
30 Day Song Challenge, Day #11: A song from your favorite band. My very favorite band is Blind Pilot and the song I would pick is “One Red Thread” (although I love the entire album - except for “Poor Boy.”) I saw them open for Decemberists with my favorite Allie Wallace and am dying to see them again/waiting in agony for their next album.

30 Day Song Challenge, Day 10: (A song that makes you fall asleep. I’m not interpreting this in a negative way). “For Emma Forever Ago” is one of my all time favorite albums, but that being said, I can’t listen to it all the time — i.e. sunny afternoons, while I’m cooking, or really, anytime that I’m doing something that makes me feel good. It’s a beautiful album but it’s so sad and it’s not like I ever get a little teary eyed when I listen to it (I don’t!), but I like to listen to it when I’m alone. Actually, I listen to it every night when I’m going to bed, which is why I pick “The Wolves (Act I and II)” in particular, and the entire album in general.

30 Day Music Challenge, Day 9: A song that you can dance to. Anything by Robyn (to pick one, “Dancing On My Own” - very creative, I know) - on that note, really bummed that I have to miss her show next week.

30 Day Song Challenge, Day 8: A song that you know all the words to. “Speak Plainly, Diana” by Joe Pug. I first saw Joe Pug at a bar in Columbus when I was there to see another band with this guy I was kind of/sort of dating (basically we went to a lot of shows for bands with animal names). I really loved this song when I heard it, and I just saw Joe Pug recently at that same bar, and the song was just as excellent as I remembered it being.

One thing that makes me feel uncomfortable is hearing people sing. This includes people in movies, people in my car, and weird people (not naming names) who have sat me down in her living room and sang me songs, accompanying on the piano. Even when the person is a decent singer, I still feel really uncomfortable and inevitably become flushed and get the prickly feeling all over.
30 Day Music Challenge, Day 7: A song that reminds you of a certain event. “The Boy Who Blocked His Own Shot” by Brand New. I was listening to this song when I got into a car accident a few years ago. I get a bit freaked out when I think about it now, so I never listen to this song in the car.
